Carla was first trained in EMDR Therapy in 2015 and since then has been using EMDR Therapy predominately in the field of addiction with great results. Join her on Zoom for a comprehensive and interactive day workshop.

  • This 1-day online workshop will introduce EMDR therapists to addiction-specific frameworks and protocols (Popky 2001, Knipe 2005) and will include:

    • Looking at addiction through the EMDR Therapy lens

    • Addiction and the 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy

    • Possibilities for recovery with EMDR Therapy

    • Addiction and the 3-Pronged Protocol (EMDR Matrix – Past, Present, Future)

    • When to use Standard Protocol and when to use Addiction Protocols

    • What can go wrong and how to manage it

    • DeTUR protocol – Desensitisation of Triggers and Urges

    • LOU – Level of Urge - Jim Knipe, 2005

    • LOPA – Level of Positive Affect (associated with addictive behaviours)

    • LOUA – Level of Urge to Avoid

    • Positive Goal State Resource (day in the future), and

    • Most Powerful Trigger (desensitisation)

    This is an interactive workshop that will include live demonstrations, videos, practicum exercises, and live Q&A.

  • Examples of ‘other compulsive behaviours’ can include issues and dependency regarding:

    • Self-harming behaviours

    • Disordered eating

    • Body-focused repetitive behaviours

    • Relationships and/or co-dependency

    • Sex and porn

    • Gaming

    • Social media and internet use

    • Gambling

    • Spending and shopping

    • ‘Workaholism’

    • Prescription pill dependency

    • OCD behaviours
